Oxybutynin (Ditropan™)

Oxybutynin, under the trade name Ditropan™, comes in both pill and syrup form and can be taken 2 to 3 times a day. For best results Oxybutynin (Ditropan™) should be taken 2 hours before a meal on an empty stomach with water. Your doctor may also recommend a small amount of food or milk when taking Oxybutynin (Ditropan™) to help lessen any effect the medicine of causing a stomach ache.

Oxybutynin (Ditropan™) can be used in relieving problems involving difficulties in the bladder. This would include frequent urination and inability in controlling the bladder. This is accomplished by reducing muscle spasm in the bladder.
In rare cases, side effects can be observed. Some of these are the following:
- dry mouth / upset stomach
- sensitivity to bright light / blurred vision / dry eyes
- fever / flushing / decreased sweating
- drowsiness
- fast pulse / heart palpitations / restlessness
- seizures
- difficulty urinating
- hallucinations (especially in children)
