Impramine is prescribed in pill form: Tablets: 10mg, 25mg, 50mg and Sustained- release capsules: 75, 100, 125 or 150 mg. Depending on the treatment, Impramine can be started in dosages of 25mg, three times a day, with slowly increased dosages.
Cases of children that are bed wetter’s due to physiological issues may respond better with the treatment of Impramine.
In the treatment of bed wetting specifically, at bedtime children 6 years an old can take 10-25 mg, at bedtime. Dosage can be increased by 25mg a day if no results are seen after a week.
There are a few rare side effects also:
- fast heart rate
- blurred vision
- urinary difficulty urinating
- dry mouth
- constipation
- weight gain or loss
- low blood pressure when standing.
- Rash, hives, seizures, and hepatitis are rare side effects.
- Imipramine also can cause elevated pressure in the eyes of some patients with glaucoma.
