Bedwetting Diapers
Before a parent or guardian purchases a bedwetting diaper (such as UnderJams from the makers of Pampers Diapers, they must be aware that the bedwetting diaper is not product to treat the bed wetting disorder. The bed-wetting diapers offers two significant benefits. First, it eliminates the unpleasant effects of bedwetting, keeping the sheets nice and dry. And second, it teaches the bedwetting child or teen to be responsible for his or her bedwetting.
When a parent finally decides to use bedwetting diapers for the bedwetting child, he must first consult the concerned child. Some children are not comfortable wearing the diapers. They should not be cajoled or threatened so that they will finally concede to using either the bedwetting diapers or the rubber pants.
It is best that the bedwetting child be given a choice on how he should deal with the bedwetting disorder. But the parent may also point out the advantages of using a bed-wetting disposable diaper or bed wetting pants over other bedwetting products.
Here are some features of a bedwetting diaper:
- The child will find it easier to change his bedwetting diaper and underclothes (if needed) than changing the whole bed sheet. Bedwetting happens at night, at the time when the child (and parent) is less mentally alert. This makes the changing of bed sheets a seemingly daunting task.
-
The bedwetting diapers need not feel too uncomfortable or too bulky. These products are available in various sizes. All the parent had to do is to choose the size of the bedwetting diaper that will best fit the child.
- Some bedwetting diapers do not look like the baby diapers. These types of bedwetting diapers appear more like undergarments. But, like other diapers, these undergarments are disposable.
Once the child has agreed to wear the bedwetting diapers or the disposable bedwetting undergarments, the parent may then support such decision by motivating the child to get up and change after a bedwetting. The child must not tolerate the wetness he will feel once he had emptied his bladder during the night.
The parent must show the child how to securely put on the bedwetting diapers. The putting on of the diapers must not be always done by the parent. Otherwise, the child becomes too dependent.
The parents must also instruct the child on how to use other paraphernalia such as the disposable wet wipes. The wipes are used to remove the urine from the skin. Without the wipes, a damp washcloth may be used. The skin must be cleaned to prevent the occurrence of rashes and infections.
And lastly, there must be a nearby trash container solely for the used bedwetting diapers or disposable undergarments. This contained must be well-covered so that the urine stench will not invade the whole room.
Many prefer diapers (like UnderJams) over such invasive items like a Bedwetting Alarm.
I often read your blog and always find it very interesting. Thought it was about time i let you know…Keep up the great work
my 15 year old daughter has been a bedwetter for the last 4 months and she is required to wash her cloth diapers and rubber pants on her own.lately she has been wearing a pair of her rubber pants out on dates and i dont know why.can any one give me a clue?
Danielle i cant be sure but it sounds to me like your daughter might be a TB (teen baby) or in other worlds have paraphilic infantilism. its a type of physcological regression that involves wearing diapers or using other baby-like things to regress back to earlier life.
there is no problem with this its a very common thing.
sit down with her and ask her about it and remeber to just be supportive.
